Playa del Carmen History

    At the time, Playa was a small fishing village. Playa del Carmen is today the leading tourist destination in Mexico. It is also the fastest growing city from Latin America.

    It’s a small village which despite huge tourist development, has kept a provincial look, also offering accommodation with personalized attention. At the port you will find the ferry that runs to Cozumel, all day long. One of the main attractions of Playa del Carmen is the Quinta Avenida spread over 25 blocks and offers a wide gastronomic choice and also commercial, it’s a unique place where you can find as well diamonds as local crafts.

    Playa del Carmen has miles of beautiful beaches and the second longest barrier reef in the world located in Cozumel. South of the main pier is Playacar with its luxury hotels, condominiums and an 18-hole golf course. It’s an ideal place to walk, run and ride a bicycle between the Mayan remains  and cenotes. This city is in the heart of the Riviera Maya, this which gives the opportunity to do eco-tours in quad, explore the Mayan archaeological sites and practice all kinds of water sports.

    Playa del Carmen offers an exciting and cosmopolitan nightlife, with a wide range of restaurants where you can taste the regional cuisine inherited from the Mayans or to feast with the different recipes of international cuisine. There is also a series of entertaining bars with a perfect Caribbean vibe and discos where you can dance the night away.

    Playa del Carmen is now the most coveted destination in Mexico and continues to develop, only since 2014 there  at ; The Quinta Alegria mall, Le Cirque du Soleil, The Grand Hyatt with the  dayclub Coralina, Le Thompson with the luxurious calle Corazon, The Carmen Hotel, The Five downtown, Xenses, Xavage and more to come… Playa del Carmen is in full tourist development and more than 20 million tourists go to the Riviera Maya every year.

    The population is made up of more than 52 different nationalities who live in peace and harmony, which makes Playa del Carmen a example of integration, tolerance and opportunity.
